Living in Harmony Award 2003

GAIN has been honoured by the Mayor in receiving

a certificate of recognition at an awards ceremony

in Guildford on Saturday 3 May 2003

and was further honoured by the

presentation of one of seven awards

for outstanding contribution

"GAIN is extremely pleased to have received one of the Mayor's 'Living in Harmony' awards.  I am very proud of the work undertaken by GAIN and its many volunteers.  We have sought to protect our community from the unnecessary threat of incineration and to encourage an incinerator-free approach to waste management in Surrey. Our work in the community continues and we are holding important public meetings to consider the renewed threat posed by the Regional Waste Strategy for the South East, which favours more incinerators across the region. It is very important that local residents help to demonstrate our continued opposition to the burning of waste and our steadfast support for reduction, reuse and recycling."
